Boggs didn't want to become known as a one-dimensional offensive player so he took it upon himself to improve his defensive skills. His extra hard work paid off when he earned 11 consecutive All-Star Game starts setting a record for American League third basemen (1986-1996). He also led the A.L. third basemen in fielding percentage in 1993 (.970) and in 1995 (.981). Although his fielding was superb Boggs will always be remembered for his hitting. Wade Boggs connected on his 3000 hit with a home run against Cleveland on August 7 1999. Wade Boggs won a World Championship with the NY Yankees in 1996.
